Another Course Teaches about ID
by MikeGeneI thought I'd mention since I've been so critical of intelligent design on this blog, that I regularly teach it as a part of my introduction to philosophy classes. I do it as an extension of the unit on the philosophy of religion, and in particular of the discussion on the design argument for God's existence. I present it as a scientific version of a design argument. We discuss (1) the differences between Paley's version of the design argument and Behe's version of intelligent design theory and (2) criticisms of intelligent design theory (e.g. not a science, neo-creationism). I'm not sure if teaching intelligent design theory as an extension of a discussion of the design argument for God's existence would please an IDer, but I think philosophy is the appropriate discipline to teach the intelligent design controversy.
Design arguments have a long history in philosophy, they go all the way back to Plato. Then, of course, there are the design arguments for God's existence.

One could say the same regarding spontaneous generation. Hopefully you cover that as well.
