Detecting Design
by MikeGeneOkay. Enough goofing around. It's time to outline an open-ended method that can help people gauge the strength of a design inference. There are several clues that might lead one to suspect intelligent design as a causal player behind biotic reality, but how can we proceed beyond the level of suspicion?
Do we need independent evidence of the designers at work? Not really. First, what we need to do is
What the ……?! Hold on….
I'll have to get back to you.

You know, after reading this blog, it occured to me that I ought to have wondered at seeing a rabbit pop out in the middle of it, but at the time it all seemed quite natural.

Who programmed/constructed/designed/created/made the red-eyed rabbit?
Perhaps there's an 'open-ended' method for 'discovering' that and also how intelligent that person is (or may be)?
Ahh/Ehh…Detective Gene at his best again! :->

Clever, but it would really be interesting to see the answer to this question. Is there a replicable methodology that would begin to raise design detection to more than a suspicion, or will the rabbit always come along just in time to keep ID advocates from getting to the next steps?
I remain curious about this.

Mike Gene,
Odd. Did you just post that today (Thursday)? I came home today, and behold, there was a large rabbit crouched 10-12 feet from my driveway in the middle of my (small) yard. I'm not sure if it was stalking something, or just chewing some grass, but it didn't seem to notice me as I walked around behind it some 15 feet to dump some trash. It was a big rabbit, so I named him "Goliath".

Hey Douglas,
Do you think that in some way that rabbit was intelligently specified to be there at that moment when you came home?
Is it really 'odd' rather than 'fate' or 'Providence' that it was there?
Was there some parallel in your response like Adam naming the animals?
These would all seem to qualify as 'intelligent design' - the scientific paradigm of a new(er) generation.

g. arago,
"Do you think that in some way that rabbit was intelligently specified to be there at that moment when you came home?"
Possibly. I imagine I'll have to ask Mike Gene.
"Is it really 'odd' rather than 'fate' or 'Providence' that it was there?"
Well, "fate" works in odd ways, you know.
"Was there some parallel in your response like Adam naming the animals?"
I'd never thought of that. If I break a rib any time soon, I'll know God's trying to tell me something.
"These would all seem to qualify as 'intelligent design' - the scientific paradigm of a new(er) generation."
You forgot "new and improved".
