I for one welcome our new Christo-Taliban overlords
by KrauzeI was checking out the anti-ID blog, The Panda's Thumb, when I found this post, "What We're up Against". An elementary school teacher in Colorado has been suspended for showing her students a video featuring sock puppets performing the opera Faust. Apparently, it's a running feud that started between the teacher and a group of parents that started when she banned Christmas songs from the school's winter concert, and the parents reciprocated by complaining about the Faust video. Of course, there's absolutely no evidence that concerns about intelligent design were involved, but the author of the post comes up with some way to link the two together.
However, the best part is the first comment to the post, from "k.e.":
Time to get the Bhurkas out, the theocratic Christo-Taliban regime is here, next they will be banning kite flying and music in hair salons.
If anyone needs me, I'll be in my bomb shelter, organizing the ammunition and preparing for the Coming Theocracy.

"… next they will be banning kite flying and music in hair salons." It's worse than you thought, k.e. — they'll even ban the hair salons themselves.

As far as banning kite flying in hair salons, though, I don't see this as terribly threatening. I never was much good at it. The beauticians get tangled in the string.

Incidentally, I am a Christian creationist, a card-carrying member of the religious right. If the facts are as they are reported in that incident, I support the teacher.

The "theocratic Christo-Taliban regime" I can see it now…
Dateline - Tuesday: "The Christo faction of our new and beloved government attempted a hostile takeover of power. Various assassination forays were thwarted, however."
Dateline - Wednesday: "In the spirit of vengeance, the Taliban branch of our esteemed political leadership sentenced and tried their Christo colleagues, then had them put to death."
Dateline - Thursday: "The remaining Christo members voiced outrage at the treatment their departed comrades experienced at the hands of their partners in theocratic leadership. Swift retaliation was promised. Asked if they would come out of hiding to mete out justice themselves, they replied that wouldn't be necessary."
Dateline - Friday: "The Christo-Taliban theocracy celebrated their one-week anniversary by sharing in a spirited shoot-out. It was not known how many survived."

Ah yes, what a lovely world. We'll have many monuments to the the IDists and their sympathizers who helped make it happen.
During the American revolution we had others such as MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE. I view the companions here at telic thoughts in the similar light.
I envision a beautiful statue of Mike Gene at the gates of some college (how about Univeristy of Kansas) with his foe, a sock puppet, lying on the ground and Mike having his sword drawn, with the sock puppet obvious the victim of Mike's swordsmaship.
Ah, then the coins and currency will have the Wedge hero's to supplement the traditional use of American Presidents. How about Mike Behe on our $1 bills? Yeah!
