Karl Rove is an Atheist
by MikeGeneOkay, this has nothing to do with ID or anything; it's just a bit of hilariously ironic news to me. Christopher Hitchens is asked:
Has anyone in the Bush administration confided in you about being an atheist?
His reply?
Well, I don't talk that much to them"”maybe people think I do. I know something which is known to few but is not a secret. Karl Rove is not a believer, and he doesn't shout it from the rooftops, but when asked, he answers quite honestly. I think the way he puts it is, "I'm not fortunate enough to be a person of faith."

This revelation about the moon-faced git, though full of ironic implications, does not surprise me in the slightest.
Be it also known that many of his neocon buddies were disciples of the elitist atheism of Leo Strauss.

Mike,
Speaking of Hitchens, I think you'll soon need to add him to TT's list of official bogeymen. His new book, God is not Great, has just been published.

The funny thing about this story are all the Chicken Littles who have been warning that America is (or is becoming) a Theocracy. There are pages and pages out there where the Chicken Little kooks view Rove as the mastermind behind the installation of this "theocracy." So now the paranoid crowd is left with a rather odd belief – an Atheist has been forcing a Theocracy on us all.

This fascinating because it was Karl Rove who created the political strategy of playing to the religious right. So Rove understood the political power of the religious people in America, developed a strategy to exploit it, and at the same time is not a believer himself. This can either make on cynical about Rove or cause you to admire his objectivity as a political strategist.
If it gets out he is an athiest will the liberals like him more?

I have long believed the Rove was "using" rather naive religious people in a political strategy. His goal was simply to win. He largely accomplished his goals until lately. I can assure you that at this moment he is still calculating how to make his strategies prevail. That's what political advisors do. They are a very cynical breed. And yes, it does blunt the theocracy paranoia, because some (enough) religious conservatives have already realized that they have been played and will withdraw from the field.

Cristopher Hitchens is an unlikely moralizer. Most of his columns are about him being morally superior to everybody else, liberals and conservatives alike. I expect his book will be a moral argument against God, where Christopher Hitchens reveals that he is more moral than God.

Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist.
Sorry…I got carried away. It's nice to know that at least one of the bad guys doesn't claim to believe in God. There's hope.
Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist. Karl Rove is an atheist………….
