Open thread: It's pandalicious!
by KrauzeIf you have something on your chest, now is the time to get it off. Some random stories on a common theme:
John Hawks: "I would smile all day long, if it guaranteed a panda getting punched in the face. I find them really annoying."
Panda bites man woman: "A panda cub bit off part of the thumb of an American visitor who was feeding the animal at a reserve in southwest China, state media reported Thursday."
Man bites panda: "A drunken Chinese migrant worker jumped into a panda enclosure at the Beijing Zoo, was bitten by the bear and retaliated by chomping down on the animal's back, state media said Wednesday."
I find this funny on so many levels. And wrong… But mostly funny. (Click to enlarge.)

Guts, when will you be attaching the links to your personal page on this site?
Also, Dualistic Dissension is now down (which is a shame). If you click on the link there's nothing there (at least pertaining to the site).

Hey, you guys should pick up Qualiatative too.
I think he would be a great addition. He handled himself well when PZ's minions were throwing insult after insult at him, when he disagreed with one of PZ's posts…. over at Parnagulalursomethinganother.

Is Mike's book available? If so, has anyone read it?

"Is Mike's book available?"
No, not yet.

Couldn't we put a ditty on the registration page that highlights the notion that Telic Thoughts isn't dedicated to the perennial pastime of Dueling Metaphysics? We could maybe provide a few links to Pharyngula, PT, II, Yahoo's religion boards, etc., so people looking for a fight will be steered to sites that exist for that exercise (as opposed to bringing it here)?

It's an open thread so….
I rescued a cat from the humane shelter over the weekend. The little guy was on his last few days then he was going to get put down. He looked pretty out of it when he was sitting there in his cage, but when I brought him home he just sprang to life; sniffing all around the apartment, jumping on the couch, hopping on my lap when I was trying to play the Xbox 360, hopping on my lap when I was trying to read Peter Kreeft's "Socrates Meets Jesus" (great book might I add), playing with the flowers that I got my wife for Sweetest Day.
Replace all of the "he's" and "his" and "him's" with "she's" and "hers". I forgot, she's a she not a he.

We lost our beloved Giant Mutant Mountain Poodle last Christmas, and our matching black he-cat Charlie Chaplain in June. Daughter wandered in at mid-July with the smallest kitten I've seen that wasn't firmly attached to its Mama. You know… the drowned rat look. Not only were our little girl-dogs (Evil Stepfather rescues) too frightened of him to even want in the house, Miss Lillian (dumpster cat rescue) stayed way out of his way. I was pretty sure one of us or the teens or the grandkids would step on him and that would be that.
But now he's big enough to let outside (no longer hawk-bait). He chases the girl-dogs, they chase him back. Miss Lillian mothers him like a… er, mother. He plays nine holes of mountain disc golf along with us regularly, testing all marker trees for climb-ability and finding discs that slip in under leaves.
We name our critters after comedians. A past cat named Buster Keeton, Charlie Chaplain, Lily Tomlin, Lucille Ball, Imogene Coca, and now… Larry. As in Curly, Larry and Mo. We have yet to meet Curly and Mo, but they'll come along eventually.

You'll have to name one after the comedian Brian Regan

I like any animal. If I had it my way (and I don't:wink:) I would bring cats, dogs, squirrels, ducks…. any animal home.
I'm from a part of the world where hunting is a big thing. Much of my family are hunters, except me…. it makes for not-so-fun Christmas dinner discussions.
My wife's parents own a veal farm too. I always tell her that if I come down with some terminal disease I'm freeing them.
