Rock:

Evolution has no "foresight." Life forms do.

Semi-amazing how often supposedly smart people confuse the pointing finger with the moon, isn't it?

From my perspective, this is a genuinely important work [last link, "biology-direct," not Skeet] that introduces a new and potentially major mechanism of evolution and, in a sense, overturns the old adage of evolution having no foresight.

Huh?!

Depp filmed the Willie Wonka thing here at the Biltmore estate, we took grandson to the mall for casting call (kids in the Chocolate Factory). Didn't make it because he stood out too much. Not like son and his stunts in "Brenda Starr," all he cared about was following Brooke Shields around like a love-sick puppy dog...

Daughters and 2 grandkids did make it into the gay parade for "My Fellow Americans" years back. Did you know Jack Lemon was a big fan of giant mutant mountain poodles? #1 daughter was so popular with them that Jack made her official dog-sitter on set! Hubby made the call for "The Fugitive" and Harrison Ford can come to dinner (or any other meal) on my farm any time he wants!!!! Maturity has its charms...

And yes, the kid looks a bit like Depp. Haven't noted his acting (though I've probably seen the movies at some point or other). It was "Edward Scissorhands" that let me know Depp would be a big star. He was brilliant.

Depp was here in lovely Wisconsin filming "Public Enemies" directed my Michael 'FREAKING' Mann!!!
A Michael Mann movie, with Johnny Depp (playing John Dillinger) about famous american gangsters (one of my favorite movie topics) filmed here in Wisconsin.

The director of Heat was less than 3 blocks away from where I work, a couple of months ago.

***
Regarding the picture, Joy. Do you think there are some similarities between the two?

Ah, but Depp has done some real acting. Don Juan deMarco, with Marlon Brando as Don Octavio, with Faye Dunaway... sigh. The most romantic movie in forever (though grandson thinks "Lady in the Water" is I-T - gets him lots of dates from the video rental crowd).

Joy....
The poor man's Johnny Depp is more attainable than the rich man's Johnny Depp (Johnny Depp).

Hello Skeet Ulrich.

http://weaktwin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/8040.jpg

Skeet was supposed to have broken out in the 1996 horror film "Scream".
Supposed to be the next Johnny Depp, but somehow managed his way into such duds as "Chill Factor" and "Kevin of the North".... and almost every other film he has been in.
Poor management, bad film selections, arrogant attitude can easily turn the next Johnny Depp into a Skeet Ulrich.

Funny thing is: he actually CHANGED his name to Skeet Ulrich? You'd think, "what would it take for someone to want to change their name to Skeet Ulrich!?!?"... But when your real name is Bryan Trout, anything is better.

********
But there's more than just similar looks. Both of them had their breakout films under horror film legend Wes Craven. Skeet was selected for "Scream" because his looks were so similar to Depp in "Nightmare on Elm Street".

Wow, thanks again Rock! You're obviously keeping up with this sort of research, and I greatly appreciate your willingness to link the relevant papers so I can download and peruse them. THAT is why you're on my fantasy lover list, just slightly below Johnny Depp (who is too pretty by half, thus slightly suspicious - as is his fondness for eyeliner and his long-time relationship with Tim Burton whom I can't stand).

I'll have to go through this one with a fine-toothed comb when I've time, which will be after I do my actual day-job. Thanks!

I feel so conflicted, Joy, you're driving me crazy! I'm flattered to be on the list. Hurt that I was ever off the list. And jealous that I'm not the only one on the list.
