Another eugenics movie

by MikeGene

This one seems to have some anti-psychiatry agenda, and the narrator sounds like someone you'd use for a movie preview, but some of the commentary and clips from history are worth seeing.

    Mike,

This comes from a Scientology propaganda film. L. Ron Hubbard had a visceral hatred of psychiatrists, which is now shared throughout the entire Scientology organization (remember Tom Cruise and Brooke Shields battling it out over antidepressants?).

What better way to vilify psychiatry than to blame it for the worst excesses of the Nazi regime?

The clip is from a longer "documentary" entitled Psychiatry: An Industry of Death.

Here's the introduction to the "documentary". Note that the narrator is the same as in your clip.

Here's the web page promoting the video, from the "Citizen's Commission on Human Rights."

This Wikipedia excerpt explains the link between Scientology and the Citizen's Commission on Human Rights.

Even if it did, is it historically accurate? I'd be curious to know.

    Hi keiths,

Yes, I thought something was fishy about it. Nevertheless, some of the commentary and clips from history are worth seeing.

    Here are some links.
