goodbye bilbo, you are welcome back anytime. In honor of you, I will quote what Mike Gene said about you the first day you were acquired , and that I completely agree with:
For those who don't know Bilbo, let me offer up my endorsement (for what it's worth). I've watched Bilbo argue for years. He characteristically treats his opponents with great respect and maintains a strong open-minded, independent streak, relying on critical thinking skills and a willingness to ask probing questions to members of both sides of the aisles. The contributors to TT approach ID not as something that is so patently obvious where we demand critics to acknowledge/embrace it, but as something with potential that raises the most fascinating questions about life. Bilbo nicely exemplifies that spirit and I trust readers will enjoy his addition to the crew.
Classic Bilbo. Informative and thoughtful, and his understated style drives critics absolutely stupid.
Note how edarrell first accuses Bilbo of repeating creationist "canards" from the "ICR website". Then to refute Bilbo, edarrell references a 'Wikipedia' article on Hoyle.
Bilbo then nonchalantly reveals that he was quoting Hoyle DIRECTLY from Hoyle's own book which was sitting open on his desk as he typed!
Note also how Matzke tries to discredit Hoyle yet can't bring himself to call Hoyle a 'creationist'. (Matzke then mysteriously leaves the discussion. )
It's discussions like this one that I will miss in Bilbo's absence.
I also note that of the two critics who went after Bilbo in that thread, neither has been banned and one is still fairly active. But alas, they will not have Bilbo to educate them any longer.

Be well Bilbo. You are welcome to come by any time. I know that speaks for almost everyone and that alignment of views is rare around here.

Just went back and read Bilbo's first blog at TT, circa 2007.
